A comparative study of the causes of economic growth in Nishapur and Merv from the beginning of the third century to the middle of the fifth century.

Abstract

The field of economics, as one of the important categories that can be studied in any land, has always been the focus of attention and study by researchers, especially in the field of history. In this regard, if the study of economic conditions is carried out with a comparative perspective and based on local history, it is possible to understand and recognize more and more correctly various aspects of historical conditions, including the causes of economic growth in a specific field such as trade. In such circumstances, the two cities of Neyshabur and Merv have been the focus of political, military and economic actors since the early centuries due to their geographical location, and under the influence of their actions, the economic conditions of these two cities have undergone changes that are similar to each other in some areas and different in others. In this regard, due to the time period of numerous and rapid changes from the beginning of the third century to the middle of the fifth century in various aspects of human life of Iranian society, the mentioned centuries were used as the basis for the research. An attempt was made to answer the question using . T indicate that Nishapur and Merv (both) were located in a suitable geographical-strategic location that provided one of the necessary prerequisites for the growth of trade. Apart from the capital location (mostly Nishapur), other factors caused the economy of Nishapur to grow faster and more widely than that of Merv
